At the northern end of peninsula is the biggest bay, called «Menies». There you will have the opportunity to visit the ancient city of «Diktyna», where you can find the remains of an old temple, columns and ancient baths. Moreover you can enjoy your swimming bath at crystal clear bluish – green seawater of bay, you may walk at the beach or relax at the sun beds of the yacht.
Theodorou Island is a protected area, part of the program Natura 2000, due to the diversity and rarity of plants and animals, a unique minority only found in this small part of the world and its Historical remains.
Starting from the south end, you are going to pass close to a giant cave, where you can take professional photos. Just above the cave, is the Venetian castle built in 1537. You will be informed about the history of the castle and the island by a member of the crew.
The tiny beach of Macherida is located 14km northeast of Chania and 1km west of the village Chorafakia, very close to Tersanas. The beach is named after the rocky cape in its north end that reminds of a knife (“machairi” means “knife” in Greek). According to another version, it is named after the flower Gladiolis italicus that is called “macherida” in Greek.
Upon departing from the Old Venetian Harbor, we set sail for the northwestern tip of Crete to the historical island of Gramvousa.
The 16th century (1579 - 1584) Venetian Castle which is situated at the highest point of the island was constructed by the Venetians to protect the island from the Turkish expansionism. One can follow the path from the beach which leads to the castle. Once there, one is truly compensated by the magnificent view. It overlooks Balos and the other neighboring islands of Wild Gramvousa and Antikythera.
Marathi is located 17km east of Chania and 5km east of the Creta Naval Base in Souda Bay, on the southeastern coast of Akrotiri. It is a popular resort of Chania area, which attracts many visitors every summer, mainly families and elderly people.
